🌸How to Care for Queen’s Tears (Billbergia nutans)

☀️ Light Requirements 

Prefers bright indirect sunlight. Keep it in partial shade outdoors or near a sunny window indoors. Avoid prolonged direct sun, which may scorch the leaves. It needs 3-4 hours of indirect sunlight.

💧 Watering Needs 

Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogging.

🌱 Best Soil & Potting Mix 

Use a well-draining soil mix, such as a blend of cocopeat, perlite, orchid bark, and sand. 

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

Thrives in warm temperatures between 18°C – 35°C. Protect from extreme cold below 15°C. Moderate humidity encourages better growth and flowering.

🐞 Pests & Diseases Affecting Queen’s Tears

Common Pests

Queen's Tears plants are susceptible to mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites, which can cause yellowing leaves, stunted growth, and webbing.

Solution:

Use Neem Oil Spray as an organic pest repellent. Mix a few drops with water and a bit of dish soap in a spray bottle, then mist your plant thoroughly.

Homemade Soap Spray:

Mix a teaspoon of dish soap with a litre of water. Spray this mixture on the affected areas, making sure to cover the undersides of leaves where aphids like to hide.

Use these solutions once in 4 days in the evening till the infestation stops.
